Commons Live Music Series – Detroit Social Blues Club Band
Downtown Midland welcomes Detroit Social Blues Club Band to The Commons Live Music Series on August 11, 2023 from 7-9 p.m.
Performances will be set up on the Pedestrian Plaza Stage in the intersection of McDonald St. & Main St. Bring a chair (or snag one of our outdoor tables), grab a drink & food from your favorite downtown restaurant, and enjoy the music!
Formed in 2016, the Detroit Social Club Blues Band consists of seven talented musicians. They have two lead singers, Darnell “Doc” Gardner and Joanne Newman. The band also has Arthur Littsey (Leader) on guitar, Kenny Welk on harmonica, Chris Kent on bass, Mark Croft on keyboards and Carl Graves on drums. Detroit Social Club is a versatile (everybody sings) and musically diverse band. In addition to playing blues, they also play Country, Motown and Classic Soul/R&B, Smooth Jazz and Popular Standards. Playing throughout S.E. Michigan their stops have included Milan, Fenton, Linden, Southgate, Milford, Detroit, Southfield, Walled Lake, Hamtramck, Redford, Port Austin and Romeo, just to name a few! So, if you are looking to hear some good old-fashioned blues music or something to dance to…a Detroit Social Club performance is where you want to be! Blues and so much more!
This year’s Commons Live Music Series is brought to you by the Downtown Development Authority and presented by Dow Credit Union. Thank you, also, to our supporting sponsor Peel ‘n Pare and our community sponsors the H Hotel, Mercantile Bank, Tri-Star Trust, and Three Rivers Corporation!
